photo courtesy: Town of Ramapo Police Department / Facebook A suspect from New York City was arrested in connection with synagogue burglaries in the Monsey area, Ramapo Police officials say. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Joel Jungries, allegedly entered and stole money from three synagogues, located on Monsey Boulevard and Suzanne Drive, on Jan. 6. He returned to the same two synagogues on Monsey Blvd. on Jan. 20. The Ramapo Police Department Investigations Division identified Jungries and arrested him on Jan. 23. He was charged with five counts of burglary and one count of grand larceny each in the third degree, and two counts each of petit larceny and possession of burglar tools. SUNY Buffalo State College’s mock trial team shares what they loved most about returning to in person competition

The whole team, coached by David Ben-Merre, an English professor, was so happy to be back in person. “This year, it’s been great to be back in person and be able to compete safely,” he said in an email. Ben-Merre, who began coaching mock trial in 2008, said that although it was fun to be able to compete last year over Zoom, it felt like something important was missing.
