My 'This Is Us' predictions! (Part Two)

This Is Us has wrapped up Season 4 and whoa...what a FiNaLe!  *** SPOILERS AHEAD!** *Just a bit of a note since we're dealing with four time periods (The Big Three's first birthday, present day, the future, and the far future)… I will use the term "the future" as a reference to the flash forward scene that shows the scene with everyone at Kevin's house. The term "far future" is future Jack, Lucy, Hailey, and Hope. Kate and Toby adopts " There are two possibilities here. Kate and Toby's relationship doesn't last or Kate dies. " "My prediction is that she'll end up with Marc." - My 'This Is Us' predictions! (Part One)   Fans were relieved to learn that Toby is not cheating with Lady Kryptonite and from this point, it looks like it's safe to say that Kate and Toby's relationship will last (for now). At the end of the Season 4 finale, Kevin, Randall, Uncle Nicky, Beth, Kevin's twins, and Rebe

The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

March 21, The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, marks a remembrance of the 1960 Sharpeville Massacre. United Nations / Facebook In a town near Johannesburg, South Africa, Afrikaner police killed 69 people, wounding 180 others who were "protesting against the South African government’s restriction of nonwhite travel," according to HISTORY . In 1979, The United Nations General Assembly implemented a programme of activities that focused on contesting racism, racial discrimination, and apartheid which was to take place during the second part of Decade for Action to Combat Racism and Racial Discrimination, according to the United Nations website. Apartheid in South Africa has been discontinued. It was later proclaimed by the General Assembly that 2015-2024 marks The International Decade for People of African Descent, a special time to recognize that "people of African descent represent a distinct group whose human rights must be

I watched 'Star Wars' for the first time...

Growing up, "Star Wars" never appealed to me. I would bug my friends who were fans and say, "Is 'Star Trek' different from 'Star Wars?'". (I was aware of a big distinction, but just did that to annoy them) Finally, I watched "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" and OH MY GOSH...WHY DIDN'T I WATCH IT SOONER? What surprised me Boy, the first thing I observed watching "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope," was how political it was! The two sides of the Rebels and the Galactic Empire is similar to conflicts today. "Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope." - Princess Leia When I got to the part when Luke began his mission to save Princess Leia, my first impression was Oh, no...it's another one of those films where the female needs rescuing. That's right! Her name is Princess Leia. Why am I not surprised? I was so relieved to see that later in the movie, she began to take charge once s

A conflict within a conflict: Trump on calling COVID-19 'the Chinese virus' (again)

President Donald Trump once again referred to the coronavirus as “the Chinese virus” in a briefing held today by the Coronavirus Task Force. “Why do you keep calling this ‘the Chinese virus?’” Cecilia Vega, a White House correspondent for ABC News , asked. Trump denied that it was racist and justified his answer by saying “because it comes from China.” In yesterday’s briefing, a reporter told him that China and others criticized him for his choice of words and asked if he was “going to continue using that phrase.” “Well, China was putting out information -which was false- that our military gave this to them,” Trump replied. “Rather than having an argument, I said I have to call it where it came from. It did come from China, so I think that’s a very accurate term, but no I didn’t appreciate the fact that China was saying that our military gave it to them.” Here’s what the president is referring to: https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/13/asia/china-coronavirus-us-lijian-zhao-intl-hnk

How relevant will the next episode of 'This Is Us' be?

I love the T.V show This Is Us. It's no doubt that fans are excited to watch the next episode which reveals what would have happened if Jack survived. Now don't get me wrong, but how relevant will season 4 episode 17 be? *The term "would" will be used a lot Last Tuesday, fans were left in tears to see the fallout between Randall and Kevin's relationship. When the "New York, New York, New York" (S4 ep. 16) episode ended, viewers were especially excited to see that the next episode, titled "After the Fire" (S4 ep. 17), is about what would or could have happened if Jack survived. Remember, at the end of the episode it's Randall wondering, so this is all from his perspective. The key phrase here is "what if" which means that it NEVER happened, so how will this episode affect other episodes? There are quite a lot of different outcomes that could have happened if Jack survived. There is no doubt that everything wil

'New Kid' is a book that points out the flaws of society

For Black History Month I wanted to read something I haven't read before, and have the opportunity to observe in children's literature how crucial topics -such as racial prejudice- are painted in such a way for the younger generation to understand, so I decided to pick up a copy of "New Kid" by the author and illustrator Jerry Craft. Photo Credit: Jerry Craft Coming of age The winner of the 2020 Newbery Medal, this graphic novel focuses on Jordan Banks, an African American seventh grader who must adapt to the new environment of a fancy prep school. When he's not in class or hanging out with his friends, Jordan enjoys expressing himself through art in his sketchbook. He aspires to go to art school but despite his wishes, his mother insists that he attend Riverdale Academy Day School also known as RADS. Friendship This graphic novel can develop a feeling of nostalgia for adults. Remember that one kid who everyone thought was strange in middle sch
