My 'Scream VI' theories

"Scream VI" is out in theaters! Here are my killer theories.

1.) History repeats itself.

"There's a darkness inside of me."

In "Scream" (2022), fans were shocked to find out that Billy Loomis had a daughter, Sam Carpenter, with another Woodsboro High girl named Christina. One of Sam's worries is that she'll turn out just like him and her past literally haunts her. Fans want to be satisfied with the killer(s)' motive, so he/she/they must have some kind of connection to the past. Most likely the killer(s) won't be directly linked to Sidney Prescott (e.g. Roman Bridger, her half-brother and Jill, her cousin) because in an interview with People, Neve Campbell announced that she wouldn't be returning for the sixth film due to a pay dispute. Therefore, the killer(s) must have a relation to Sam, the only one directly linked to Billy.

It was revealed to fans in "Scream 3" (2000) that Sidney had a half-brother on her mother's side, Roman, who was jealous of Sidney. The producers and directors weren't afraid to have history repeat itself with bringing in a new crew, who were somehow linked to the OG crew, so perhaps Sam has a twin that she doesn't know about who carried on Billy's traits.

2.) Kirby is the killer.

There is one reason why I theorize this. On the "Scream" Instagram page, they posted this photo with the caption, "Kirby, such a fan favorite, that's why this is going to hurt." Most fans theorized in the comments that this is a hint that she's going to get killed. On the other hand, it could be a hint that she's the killer. I'm uncertain what the motive would be, but let's be real. The majority of the killers' motives were irrational.

3.) Gale is the catalyst for this film.

Gale is the only OG character in this installment who's been with fans since the beginning. She's very driven, but also flawed. She'll do whatever it takes to get a good story. There has to be some reason why a new Ghostface surfaces.

Screen Rant reported that horror journalist Matt Donato may have spotted an Easter egg at the Scream fan experience event at Santa Monica that Gale doesn't survive.

"The second photo in the gallery he shared from the official event reveals that Gale wrote a book about the events of 'Scream' 2022 titled, 'Requel: Terror Returns to Woodsboro,'" according to the article.

Perhaps the reason why a bulk of the trailer focuses on Gale's scene is not only because she's an OG character, but rather she's the reason why Ghostface emerges.

These theories may or may not be close, but one thing is for certain: this film will have so many curve balls. What I mean by this is that anything can happen, especially with it taking place in the Big Apple. It's an interesting choice because it's so big and it offers so many unique perspectives for a variety of settings and thrills, such as the scene in the final trailer where Mindy is fleeing from Ghostface as she crawls on a ladder of what appears to be an apartment with a fire escape. They killed Dewey in "Scream" (2022), a fan favorite and character who's been with us since the beginning, so who knows what's next?

How to avoid family quarrels during the most wonderful time of the year: Thanksgiving

Ah, Thanksgiving: a time of cheer, laughs, good food and getting together with the family. But for some, it may be daunting to meet with certain members. After all, we’ve all heard of the in-law horror stories and watched the movies: “Monster-in-Law,” (2005) “Meet The Parents,” (2000) and “ Crazy Rich Asians" (2018). "Meet the Parents" (2000) Raffi Bilek, a Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical and the director of the Baltimore Therapy Center , shared his advice on how to avoid family tensions. “These days, I think politics is the hot topic. For the past couple of years, it’s gotten more and more polarized and political issues cause big arguments,” he said. According to a 2022 poll conducted by The New York Times and Siena College , 19% of registered voters said that politics damaged relations with family members or friends.  With the recent release of the dates and locations of the 2024 presidential debates , it's likely to come about in conversation at le

Women In Translation Month: The woman behind Jojo Adventure Books

photo credit: Cait Malilay Emily Shan is a New York City public school teacher, stay-at-home mom and author and creator of Jojo Adventure Books , a bilingual children’s board book series that’s written in Cantonese and English. Launched in September 2022, the series is based on real adventures, both big and small, of her daughter Jojo. “At the same time, I’m creating the resources for ourselves as well as families who want to be able to pass down that Cantonese language to the next generation and hopefully future generations beyond that,” Shan said.  What inspired her to launch this project is that while she was shopping for children's books, she noticed that a lot of them were more catered toward Mandarin-speaking families. Mandarin and Cantonese are tone languages. "Cantonese has six to nine tones, whereas Mandarin has four to five. You’ll see Cantonese written as traditional Chinese characters, whereas Mandarin will typically be written in simplified Chinese characters,&quo
